At The Strand, sustainability is not an afterthought but a foundation, shaping every detail of design, craftsmanship and day-to-day life.

The Strand represents a new vision for sustainable luxury in the Caribbean where modern design, innovative technology and respect for the environment come together naturally.

Every residence and shared space has been thoughtfully designed to minimize environmental impact while enhancing comfort and wellbeing.

Safe, Reliable Power

In partnership with Renu Energy TCI, a local leader in solar home integration, The Strand offers each homeowner the option to include a solar energy system featuring Tesla Powerwalls and Canadian Solar panels. These systems generate clean power throughout the day and store energy for use at night or during outages, providing efficiency, reliability and energy independence.

Electricity in Turks and Caicos is typically generated from diesel fuel at about $0.43 per kWh. The Strand’s solar systems reduce this cost to around $0.13 per kWh, offsetting up to 80% of a home’s energy needs. Each system also supports electric vehicle charging and integrates cohesively with smart home power management.

Smart, Seamless Living

The Strand brings together smart home innovation and resort technology through a custom platform developed with Intelity. Homeowners and guests can manage every detail of their stay—from lighting and climate control to concierge and dining requests—all through in-room tablets or mobile devices.

Smart features include:

  • Remote lighting, drapery and appliance controls
  • LED lighting throughout the property
  • High-efficiency Mitsubishi air conditioning with intelligent temperature management
  • SALTO keyless entry systems
  • Electric car and golf cart charging stations
  • Direct digital access to concierge, dining and housekeeping services
  • Notifications for resort news, activities and events
Architecture & Design

The Strand’s architecture draws inspiration from timeless coastal design, using natural materials and passive cooling techniques that reflect and respect the island’s environment.

  • Hand-crafted wood pergolas provide natural shade for bedrooms and living spaces
  • Cross ventilation promotes airflow throughout each home
  • Finishes include off-white plaster, oolitic limestone, limestone flooring and sustainably harvested wood—all chosen for their beauty, light color palette and low heat conductivity
Pollinator Sanctuary

In collaboration with the Denver Butterfly Pavilion, The Strand is in the process of being certified as a pollinator sanctuary showing the continuous effort in supporting bees, butterflies, dragonflies, hummingbirds, and other native species through thoughtful landscaping that prioritizes local flora.

This initiative enriches the landscape and contributes to biodiversity across the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Sustainable Landscaping

The landscape design at The Strand minimizes water use while maintaining a lush, tropical setting.

  • Smart Rainbird irrigation systems adjust watering based on real-time conditions
  • Rainwater catchment and greywater systems provide sustainable irrigation sources
Responsible Dining

The Strand’s commitment to sustainability extends to its culinary philosophy at our on-site restaurant, The DelMar Restaurant & Beach Club. The restaurant partners with local anglers who practice responsible fishing and maintains an on-site garden and fruit trees that supply fresh ingredients to the kitchen—ensuring an authentic, environmentally conscious dining experience.
