Since day one at The Strand, our commitment to sustainability has been more than just a standalone initiative, it is woven into the very fabric of our design. We built the property to seamlessly coexist with the natural rhythms of Turks and Caicos, prioritizing everything from energy-efficient architecture to native landscaping and pollinator conservation.
We have re-engineered island living. In partnership with Renu Energy TCI, a local leader in solar home integration, The Strand offers homeowners a state-of-the-art microgrid experience. By replacing the island’s standard diesel-generated electricity with clean, renewable power, we are providing true energy independence without sacrificing a moment of comfort.
High-efficiency Canadian Solar panels capture the Caribbean sun.
Integrated Tesla Powerwalls store energy for nighttime use and provide seamless, reliable backup during grid outages.
Our systems offset up to 80% of a home’s energy needs, dropping the typical $0.43 per kWh cost of diesel power to around $0.13 per kWh of clean energy.
Every home integrates cohesively with smart power management and includes dedicated electric vehicle charging stations.
High-efficiency Mitsubishi air conditioning with smart temperature management.
Remote controls for LED property-wide lighting, drapery, and smart appliances.
SALTO keyless entry systems for secure, effortless movement.
Direct, paperless access to dining, housekeeping, resort news, and activity bookings.
Hand-crafted wood pergolas provide natural shade, while strategic cross-ventilation promotes continuous airflow throughout each home.
We utilize off-white plaster, sustainably harvested wood, and natural oolitic limestone—all chosen for their striking beauty and exceptionally low heat conductivity.
The lush, tropical setting is sustained by intelligent Rainbird irrigation systems that adjust watering based on real-time weather conditions.
Advanced rainwater catchment and greywater systems provide sustainable, zero-waste irrigation sources.
In partnership with Butterfly Pavilion, the only nonprofit stand-alone invertebrate zoo accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), based in Denver, The Strand has been recognized as a certified pollinator sanctuary for its support to native plants, bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, dragonflies and other essential pollinators native to the Turks and Caicos ecosystem.
Guests are encouraged to photograph butterflies, bees and other pollinators across the property and identify them using the iNaturalist App as part of an ongoing effort to better understand and support local biodiversity.
